Our history
Our purpose & philosophy
To supplement the home by providing a surrounding in which the children develop intellectually, physically, socially and emotionally under the guidance of qualified teachers.
We believe each child is unique, and has a right to be respected for his/her individuality. Keeping in mind the general behavioral characteristics of preschool children, we gear our educational approach to meet each child’s individual emotional, social, intellectual and physical needs. We believe the preschool child needs the support of his/her parents in all of his/her activities; for this reason we encourage cooperation between child, parent and teacher.
Objectives
- To provide a carefully planned environment to meet the needs and interests of each child in the group
- To provide readiness activities as appropriate with the daily activities
- To provide for the health and safety of the children by setting up rules they can understand
- To give each child the opportunity to play with others or alone
- To help the children express their feelings in acceptable ways
- To provide an interest in reading and language arts
- To encourage an interest and appreciation of music and rhythm activities through song and dance, utilizing autoharp, guitar, records and other instruments
- To provide art materials to encourage each child’s creativity
- To provide for active play periods balanced with quiet activities, both indoors and out;
- To meet the nutritional needs of the children during the time they are in the center
- To provide sensory exploration of all the senses
- To provide a flexible program that encourages a variety of experiences
